Pit Stop Taster Tour

Cycle for three days and take “pit stops” at farms, farm cafés, country guest houses and farm shops. Starting at Cloppenburg you will cycle daily steps of 45 to 55 km along the Thülsfelder Talsperre to Barßel, the Venice of the North. Leading you through the Saterland, an old Frisian linguistic enclave with bilingual city limit signs, the tour takes you further to Linderns. Via Lastrup and Essen (Oldb.) you will get back to the starting point of the tour, Cloppenburg. Enjoy hills, lakes, rivers and a unique moorland landscape in the Oldenburger Münsterland.

Cultural cycling tour from Saarbrücken to Trier

If you like to cycle leisurely and take your time for all the things worth seeing along the way, this one is for you. This cultural cycling tour along the Saar and Moselle will take you to a number of cultural highlights, such as the Porta Nigra in Germany’s oldest city Trier, the so-called “little Venice“ in Saarburg, the ceramics manufacturer Villeroy & Boch, the World Heritage Site “Völklinger Hütte“ (former ironworks), the Baroque Saarbrücken and the city of the Sun King, Saarlouis.
Tour description Day 1: Arrival Visit the Baroque historic city centre of Saarbrücken and current exhibition at the “Saarland-Museum“
Day 2: Saarbrücken – Saarlouis (18 miles/29 km) Cycle on the Saar cycling route to Völklingen where you will have sufficient time to visit the ceramics manufacturer Villeroy & Boch, the World Heritage Site “Völklinger Hütte“ (former ironworks), the Baroque city of Saarbrücken and Saarlouis, the city of the Sun King.
Day 3: Saarlouis – Mettlach (21.8 miles/25 km) Today you will be cycling along the Saar and pass the famous Saar Bow until you reach Mettlach. Do not miss visiting the Villeroy & Boch exhibition “Keravision“ in the old Benedictine abbey, showcasing the history of the famous ceramics manufacturer. And last but not least, how about a bit of shopping? There are some outlet stores to be found in Mettlach ...
Day 4: Mettlach – Trier (25.6 miles/41 km) The route leads on to Saarburg, well known for its castle dating back to the 10th century, the historic town centre and its traces of the Middle Ages as well as a waterfall. Upriver, you will cycle along the Saar to Konz where Saar and Moselle meet. Following the course of the Moselle, you will reach your destination Trier, Germany’s oldest city, in the Rhineland-Palatinate.
Day 5: Departure Visit the Roman city of Trier and departure.
